FDA Status and Off Label Use

Ketamine is FDA approved as an anesthetic. Its use for psychiatric and chronic pain conditions is off label, meaning it is prescribed for a purpose other than the one for which it received FDA approval. Off label prescribing is legal and common in medicine, and ketamine for these conditions is supported by a growing body of peer reviewed research, but it is not FDA approved for these indications. Esketamine (Spravato) is a separate, FDA approved nasal spray for treatment resistant depression and for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder who have acute suicidal ideation or behavior. Nothing on this site should be read as implying FDA endorsement of off label ketamine use.

No Promised Outcomes

Individual results vary. Ketamine therapy does not work for everyone, and no specific outcome is promised or assured. Any references to research findings describe results observed in studied populations and do not predict your individual response. Ketamine therapy is not appropriate for everyone, and a medical evaluation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.

No Doctor Patient Relationship

Using this website, reading its content, or contacting us through it does not create a doctor patient relationship. That relationship is established only through a formal consultation and evaluation conducted by our clinical team.

Consult a Healthcare Provider

Before starting, stopping, or changing any treatment, including medications, consult your healthcare provider. Do not disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you have read on this site.
